Two Paths vs OurFamilyWizard

The OurFamilyWizard alternative with a real LMFT on call

Same shared custody calendar, encrypted messaging, expense tracking, GPS-verified handoffs, and court-grade documentation. The thing Two Paths adds that OurFamilyWizard does not offer at any price: a licensed family therapist (Cindy Weathers, LMFT) you can request a personal written response from for $19.99, or a 40-minute video session with for $229.

The short answer

Two Paths and OurFamilyWizard cover the same co-parenting essentials. Shared custody calendar, encrypted messaging, expense tracking, handoff notes, travel notices, document storage, and court-grade records. Both are designed to produce a clean, defensible communication record between separated parents.

The thing Two Paths adds that OurFamilyWizard does not offer at any price: direct access to a licensed marriage and family therapist. Cindy Weathers, LMFT, can write you a personal response on a specific situation for $19.99, or do a 40-minute video session with you for $229. OurFamilyWizard is software only, with no professional support layer.

Pick OurFamilyWizard if your court order names it specifically, you need native Android today, or you want a 20+ year case history. Pick Two Paths if you want the same features plus an LMFT you can actually talk to.

The single biggest difference: an LMFT on call

OurFamilyWizard is a software platform. It gives you tools, not people. If you need someone to actually look at the situation you are in and tell you what to do, OurFamilyWizard cannot help with that.

Two Paths is built around the same core platform but with one critical addition: Cindy Weathers, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), available on demand for the moments you need a real human in the loop.

Personal written response

$19.99 per response, available on any plan including Free.

Submit a situation (a message you received, a decision you are about to make, a conflict you are stuck in). Cindy reviews it personally and writes you a structured response within 24 to 48 hours. Use it as guidance, send it, or adapt it.

40-minute video session

$229 per session, available on any plan including Free.

When the situation is bigger than a written response can handle, book a one-on-one 40-minute video coaching call with Cindy. Same licensed family therapist. Real-time conversation. Useful before custody hearings, big decisions, or sustained patterns you need help breaking.

Cindy Weathers, LMFT, is licensed in California. Coaching and decision support, not a substitute for ongoing therapy.

Five things Two Paths offers that OurFamilyWizard does not

Beyond the LMFT access, four product features that go past what OFW currently ships.

1. Live access to a licensed family therapist

The single biggest difference. Cindy Weathers, LMFT, reviews specific situations on request. $19.99 buys a personal written response from her on a message you received or a draft you are about to send. $229 books a 40-minute video session for harder conversations. OurFamilyWizard does not connect you with a therapist at any price. Two Paths does, on demand, on any tier.

2. Message Insight (decodes manipulation, not just tone)

OurFamilyWizard's ToneMeter flags messages as aggressive, neutral, or positive. Two Paths' Message Insight reads incoming messages and identifies specific manipulation tactics: guilt-tripping, DARVO, gaslighting, triangulation, strawmanning. It explains the emotional triggers and generates a calm BIFF-style response (brief, informative, friendly, firm) that you can actually send. ToneMeter flags the symptom. Message Insight tells you what is actually happening and what to do about it.

3. Before You Send draft analysis

Sometimes the dangerous message is the one you are about to write. Two Paths analyzes drafts before you hit send, flagging tone problems, escalation risk, and lines that will look bad on the record. Suggests rewrites in BIFF style. OurFamilyWizard does not have this. Once you send a message in OFW, it is permanent. Before You Send is the moment of pause that prevents the message you would regret.

4. Conflict Patterns analytics

Two Paths analyzes your interaction history and surfaces recurring patterns. Which topics most often turn into conflict, which days of the week are tensest, where the cycles repeat. Useful for both your own self-awareness and for showing a mediator or attorney where the friction concentrates. OurFamilyWizard does not analyze the data this way.

5. Automatic GPS-verified handoffs and deviation log

When pickups and dropoffs happen, Two Paths can timestamp and GPS-verify them automatically. Schedule deviations (late arrivals, missed days, no-shows) get logged automatically against the planned schedule, no manual entry. OurFamilyWizard relies on manual journal entries for the same evidence.

Where OurFamilyWizard has the edge

We are not here to pretend OFW is bad. Three real situations where it is the better choice.

1. Your court order specifically names OurFamilyWizard

In some jurisdictions, judges name specific platforms (OurFamilyWizard or TalkingParents) in custody orders. If yours does, comply with the order. Two Paths is not court-mandated anywhere we are aware of, so it should not replace a platform your court has explicitly required.

2. You need native Android right now

Two Paths is iOS-first. The web app at twopaths.app works on Android via browser and is fully featured, but if you specifically need a native Android app, OurFamilyWizard ships one today. Our native Android version is on the roadmap but not yet released.

3. You want 20+ years of court familiarity

OurFamilyWizard launched in 2001. Many family law attorneys, mediators, and judges already know the product by name. If that institutional familiarity matters more to you than the LMFT access and the additional features, OFW carries a track record Two Paths does not yet have.

Pricing reality check

What each one actually costs, no marketing tricks.

Two Paths

  • Free: 1 Get Guidance preview + 1 Decode preview only. The full toolkit is on paid tiers.

Annual all-in for a Couples Premium family: $249/year + LMFT a la carte as needed.

OurFamilyWizard

  • Standard: ~$144/parent/year (~$288/family/year).
  • Premium: Higher tier with PhoneLog and additional features.
  • No free tier. No solo-parent option that works without the other parent paying.
  • No LMFT access. Software only, at any price.

Annual all-in for a paying family: $288 minimum.

Two Paths Couples Premium ($249/yr) is slightly less than OurFamilyWizard's family pricing ($288/yr) and includes Conflict Patterns, GPS check-ins, Before You Send, and on-demand LMFT access OFW does not offer. Two Paths Couples Essentials ($399/yr) costs more than OFW but adds the court-grade exports and audit trail you would otherwise need a separate tool for.

Who should pick what

A quick decision filter.

Pick Two Paths if:

  • You want the same features as OFW plus on-demand access to a licensed LMFT
  • Your ex is high-conflict, manipulative, or narcissistic
  • You want help decoding specific messages, not just flagging tone
  • You may need expert eyes on a high-stakes response or a 40-minute video session before a hearing
  • You want automatic deviation tracking, GPS check-ins, and Conflict Patterns analytics
  • You're on iOS or comfortable using a web app on Android

Pick OurFamilyWizard if:

  • Your court order specifically names it
  • You need a native Android app today
  • You want 20+ years of name recognition with judges and attorneys
  • You don't need LMFT access or the additional Two Paths features

How to switch from OurFamilyWizard to Two Paths

Three steps. Most families finish in under an hour.

  1. 1

Export what you want to keep from OurFamilyWizard. OFW lets you export message history, journal entries, and expense logs as PDFs. Save them somewhere you can find them later. You can re-upload these to Two Paths' Documents section if you want a single source of truth.

  2. 2

Set up Two Paths. Download the app, pick your custody schedule pattern (the calendar has 2-2-3, 5-2-2-5, week-on/week-off, and others built in), set the start date, then send your co-parent an invite to connect.

  3. 3

Time the switch around a natural break. A holiday, summer transition, or new school year is the cleanest moment to swap platforms. Both parents start fresh on Two Paths and the OFW PDFs become historical reference.

Frequently asked questions

What does Two Paths cost?+

Premium is $14.99/month or $149/year for solo, $24.99/month or $249/year for couples (covers both co-parents). Premium unlocks the full toolkit: custody calendar, co-parent messaging, expenses, handoff notes, GPS check-ins, travel notices, journal, medical log, unlimited Get Guidance and Message Insight, Before You Send, and Conflict Patterns. Essentials is $24.99/month or $249/year solo (or $39.99/month, $399/year couples) and adds court-grade document exports, the Complete Court Record bundle, and a verified PDF audit trail. Cindy Weathers, LMFT charges $19.99 per personal written response and $229 per 40-minute video session, available a la carte on every plan.

Does Two Paths have a real free tier?+

Two Paths is free to download and the Free tier lets you try one Get Guidance preview and one Message Insight decode so you can see how the AI tools work. To use the calendar, messaging, expense tracking, and the rest of the day-to-day co-parenting tools, you need Premium ($14.99/month) or Essentials ($24.99/month). We focus our investment on building the best paid product rather than supporting a permanently-free experience that does not actually help you co-parent.

Is Two Paths court-approved like OurFamilyWizard?+

OurFamilyWizard has been around since 2001 and is named in some custody orders by name. Two Paths is a newer product and is not specifically named in any court order we are aware of. That said, the Essentials tier produces court-grade document exports, a verified PDF audit trail, and a Complete Court Record bundle (timestamped messages, expenses, handoffs, GPS-verified pickups, deviations) that hold up the same way any well-organized communication record does. If your court order specifically names OurFamilyWizard or TalkingParents, you should comply with that order. Otherwise, Two Paths produces a strong documented record.

Is everything encrypted in Two Paths?+

Yes. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest in our database (PostgreSQL via Supabase). The Verified PDF audit trail on the Essentials tier provides authentication metadata that supports court admissibility, in addition to the underlying encryption.

How is the LMFT review different from messaging Cindy through OurFamilyWizard?+

OurFamilyWizard does not connect you with a licensed therapist. They are software only. Two Paths includes optional access to Cindy Weathers, a real Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. You can request a personal written response from her on a specific situation for $19.99, or book a 40-minute video session with her for $229. Both options are a la carte and available on every plan, including Free.

Can I import my data from OurFamilyWizard?+

There is no automatic import. OurFamilyWizard does not provide an open data export API. You can export your OFW message history, journal entries, and expense logs as PDFs and store them in Two Paths' Documents section if you want a single source of truth. Message-level migration with full metadata is not currently available, but most families switch over fresh and keep the OFW PDFs only for historical reference.

Is Two Paths available on Android?+

Two Paths is currently iOS only. We have a fully featured web app at twopaths.app that works on any device including Android phones via the browser. A native Android app is on the roadmap but not yet shipped. If a native Android app is non-negotiable for you today, OurFamilyWizard ships one and Two Paths does not.
